Russian consumption of Scotch Whisky – a historical context

In this article we wanted to take a look at the last few years of exports of Scotland’s national drink into Russia. It has been often quoted as being a headwind for the industry here, so we wanted to quantify and examine what has happened in detail for this market and contextualize the impact of sanctions on the trade in whisky. Prior to researching this article, we naively believed that all exports had ceased. Spoiler - that isn’t the case although the patterns have changed.
