Bulk Export of Scotch Whisky: An Insight into the less glamorous side of Scotch whisky
After looking at overall exports last week we wanted to focus on bulk exports. This is an unpublicised area of Scotch whisky exports, and we wanted to shine a light on this corner of the industry. ISO-tanks of whisky spirit are sent to many parts of the world for various reasons. Anything other than single-malt Scotch whisky can be exported in this format (Single malt must be bottled in Scotland and exported in glass).
In this article, we have looked specifically at where bulk shipments are exported to, how much is moved in this format and how much that is worth to the industry. This all helps provide wider context to the industry knowledge that is rarely reported in the mainstream press.
